Heartgard Plus Chewables is a monthly meaty chew used for the prevention of heartworm disease and for the control of roundworms and hookworms in dogs. Heartgard prevents heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae for a month after infection.

For: Dogs (6 weeks of age or older and no weight requirement)

Cautions
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Heartworm testing should be performed prior to the start of prevention therapy. If the animal is off ivermectin for 6 months or less, start the medication and test after 6 months since microfilaria, which take 6 months to mature, may result in a positive test result.

Possible Side Effects
The side effects of ivermectin are rare at the recommended dosage. Heartgard Tablets has a wide margin of safety for all sizes and breeds of dogs. It is approved for use in puppies as young as 6 weeks, small dogs regardless of weight, pregnant or breeding bitches, stud dogs, and Collies.

HEARTGARD Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) Chewables should be administered orally at monthly* dosing intervals at the recommended minimum dose level of 6 mcg of ivermectin per kilogram and 5 mg of pyrantel (as pamoate salt) per kilogram of body weight.

Directions for Use
Heartgard (Ivermectin) is given once a month year round for the prevention of heartworm disease. The usual dose of ivermectin in dogs up to 25 lb is 68mcg - 1 tablet from blue pack, for 26-50 lb is 136mcg - 1 tablet from green pack and for 51-100 lb is 272mcg - 1 tablet from brown pack.  Dogs over 100 lb are given a combination of the tablets.

I have trusted Heartgard to three of my most treasured fur babies now. My girls think think they are a treat when I give them to them each month. Every year when they have their annual check-up, they always test negative because they are given their monthly Heartgard chewables. I wouldn't trust my beloved girls' hearts to anything else! Heartgard for giving us a great heartworm preventative at such a great price!

This product is very effective in preventing heart worm as well as ticks and other diseases. My dog, Taffy, had her annual check-up yesterday and all her blood tests for heart worm and lime disease and other parasites were negative. It is very easy to administer and Taffy loves the taste of this product over other brands I have used in the past.

This chewable can save a dogs life every month. After a loss in the family, I found out my family members dog had heartworms. it was bc no heartguard was given to my dog. Thankfully I caught his disease in time. He survived treatment and is back to his oldself. I now am the primary care taker for him. He is heartworm free.and I continue to make sure he and my other dogs get it. No dog of mine or him will experience that. I am thankful for veternarians.and heartguard that there is treatment and no reason to put a dog down if there is a cure.

I have had my 15 lb terrier mix dog on another type of heartworm meds, but recently it was unavailable, so I tried Heartguard Plus. It works just as effectively, costs about the same, but Lucy LOVES the taste of it and I no longer have to wrap a pill in a little turkey to have her enthusiastically take it. I think I will stay with the Heartguard Plus, all things considered.

I am so glad the other product that i used to give my dog is discontinued. Heartgard Plus is so easy to give to my dog she thinks it is a treat. I used to have to put cream cheese on the other pill and half the time she know and would not take it. I just gave lola her Heartgard Plus yesterday i call her over and she takes it right from my hand and eats it right up. So Happy to be using Hartgard Plus and so is my Lola.
